This was my first directing project since film school and a great opportunity to grow as a director. The concept was to replace iconic '90s rappers like N.W.A. and The Beastie Boys with modern-day “Dads”. Achieving this required hundreds of decisions from pre-production until launch. I cut together a pre-viz video using actual shots from those 90s videos, came up with a solution for the opening, scouted locations, cast the dads with J-CA$$, selected the wardrobe, and ran the production on the day of the shoot. Our goal was to have it look as professional as possible, so we hired a professional shooter with a RED camera. I worked closely with J-CA$$ to edit the piece. The resulting product is a fun, light-hearted video that evolved into something that stands on its own. I loved every minute of it.
